History of Erindale
Erindale first became a formal suburb when a sub division of land located in Burnside was created in 1912 after the land was initially purchased in 1889. It was called Erindale after James Cowans birth place located in County Tyrone, Ireland (now Northern Ireland). James Cowan was Flour Miller and Investor. James was one of the very early investors into BHP and passed away on the 21st of July 1890.
Erindale is 6 kilometres (4 miles) from the centre of Adelaide and is home to 1,172 people according to the 2021 Census results. Under the City of Burnside council, you will find this suburb along with other neighbouring locations such as Auldana, Skye, Stonyfell, Leabrook, and Leawood Gardens.
